As a result of ongoing conversation around the Uniting in Heart 2030 Pastoral Plan which began in 2018, we have recognized the need to change our original pastorate design. St. Boniface, Lafayette and St. Lawrence, Lafayette will now be two parishes under the leadership of one missionary pastor in a pastorate.
Originally the Lafayette parishes were not joined in this way, however as a result of many unforeseen priest illnesses and retirements, we recognized the need to form a new pastorate. A Pastorate Leadership Team, made up of the pastor, clergy and lay staff, will be responsible for coordinating the guiding details of how this pastorate will come together. The parishes will each retain their own finance councils but will come together to form one pastoral council. Priests will be assigned to serve across the pastorate but there will be priests in residence in each of the parishes.
The goal of grouping of these two parishes together is to create a common faith community across greater Lafayette and to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and better serve the people of God. We also wish to bring about a greater unity of Catholics across all of Lafayette. By sharing and coordinating resources and ministries, we can better accomplish the vision and mission of Uniting in Heart.
